Loops live on: Vine may get another chance somewhere else

Vine may not be dead after all.

After parent company Twitter announced last week that it's put the six-second video site on the chopping block, it appears potentials buyers could keep the service from an early retirement.

Multiple bids for Vine have since emerged since Twitter's announcement, which could possibly see the site making a comeback, sources tell TechCrunch.

While none of the interested buyers could be named, one bid-ee is rumored to be the Japanese messaging service and WhatsApp competitor, Line.

Picked from the Vine

That said, sources add that bids appear to be under $10 million - something to keep Twitter from outright trashing it, but not exactly making Vine a hot get.

It's uncertain at this time if Twitter will take back its decision to axe Vine in light of recent interest.

It's also unclear if selling off Vine will compromise the site's current archive of videos, many of which are being saved following Vine's closure or are linked to tweets on Twitter's eponymous primary service.

If you're worried that your favorite six-second clips won't make it through a buyout, Giphy is offering users a way save their videos as shareable, albeit silent, GIF files.

We reached out to Twitter for comment and will update this story as more details emerge.
