Real Madrid superstar Cristiano Ronaldo was the Man of the Match as his side came from a goal down to defeat Bayern Munich 2-1 on Wednesday, beating Lionel Messi to a massive European milestone in the process.
Ronaldo scored his first goal in UEFA club competition during Manchester United's 7-1 victory over Roma on 10 April 2007, and 10 years and two days later reached the impressive milestone in Real's crucial win at Bayern.
In so doing, Ronaldo beat his longstanding rival Messi to the all-time record, with the Argentine, who failed to hit the back of the net against Juventus on Tuesday night, sitting on 97 goals.
The Los Blancos talisman has now scored 97 goals in the Champions League, two in the UEFA Super Cup and one in UEFA Champions League qualification.
Messi, meanwhile, has scored 94 goals in the Champions League and netted three additional strikes in the UEFA Super Cup.
In the current competition, Messi leads the goalscoring ranking with 11 strikes, followed by Edinson Cavani with eight and Robert Lewandowski as well as Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang with seven goals each in joint third spot.
