UI students protest colleagues’ expulsion

Students of the University of Ibadan on Tuesday protested the expulsion of three of their colleagues by the management of the school.
President of the university’s students’ union, Mr Ojo Oluwanifemi, told newsmen in Ibadan that students were being victimised by the school authorities even as he called on the Federal Government to review the funding of the school.

He said the funding of the school by the Federal Government was inadequate.
Oluwafemi told our correspondent that while Anyam Kingsley was expelled for insulting the Vice-Chancellor of the institution, Prof Idowu Olayinka, on Facebook, Philip Olatinwo was sent away from the school for disrupting a party two years ago.
He said, “Olatinwo explained that he was not among those who disrupt the party and that he was only unfortunate to be around the area while the act was being perpetrated. He said he was on his way to buy food when the disruption happened.
