Lionel Messi and his childhood sweetheart Antonella Roccuzzo finally tied the knot on Friday, June 30 at a glamorous ceremony at their Argentinian hometown of Rosario.
Rosario came to a standstill as their most illustrious son Messi wedded his longtime partner Roccuzzo and mother of two at the Rosario City Center complex.
After tying the knot the couple shared a kiss for the cameras on the red carpet in front of around 250 guests including Messi’s former and current Barcelona, Argentina teammates.
For his big day, Messi wore a bespoke designer suit while his bride was elegant in a dress by Spanish designer Rosa Clara. The designer has also dressed stars such as actresses Eva Longoria and Sofia Vergara as well as Spain's Queen Letizia.
Messi’s former Barcelona teammates Xavi, Carles Puyol, Cesc Fabregas and Samuel Eto'o, were all at the ceremony with their partners.
Luis Suarez was also there with his wife. Jordi Alba, Sergio Busquets and Javier Mascherano were some of the Barcelona stars present at the wedding.
Other football stars who were present include Paris Saint-Germain and Argentina winger Angel Di Maria, Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero as well as his national teammate Ezequiel Lavezzi.
Gerard Pique and Neymar were also there.
Messi rented out the 188-room Pullman Hotel which is attached to the City Center Rosario complex where the wedding took place.
Messi and his now wife Roccuzzo met as kids while growing up in Rosario. She was a frequent visitor to Barcelona when Messi moved there at a very early age to continue his football career.
The couple has two children already Thiago and Mateo.
After his honeymoon, the five-time Ballon d'Or winner Messi will resume pre-season with Barcelona under new coach Ernesto Valverde.
The 30-year-old scored 54 goals in 52 appearances in another individual brilliant season for Barcelona.
They, however, missed out on the La Liga and Champions League titles settling for just Copa del Rey.
