In an interview with TMZ Sports, Broncos linebacker Brandon Marshall, who played with Colin Kaepernick in college, raised the same question that many football fans have been asking this year: If guys like Geno Smith can get NFL jobs, why can’t Kaepernick?
“I watch people on Twitter say, ‘Colin’s not good, he’s not a good NFL quarterback,’ you know. But what about the Geno Smiths of the world?” said Marshall. “And Ryan Fitzpatricks, and all those guys. I’m like, if Kap’s not good, then what are these guys? These guys are getting signed. You know, the Matt Barkleys and all that stuff.”

Last season, Marshall joined Kaepernick in protesting police brutality by kneeling during the singing of the national anthem at games. He lost endorsements due to his actions and also received racist hate mail from fans.
