Samsung SM-G9600 leaks out with Snapdragon 840: Could this be the Galaxy S8 Mini?

There have been multiple reports that have talked about how the Samsung Galaxy S8 has failed to impress in the market. Although the company has denied these claims, it seems like the manufacturer is already preparing a new variant of the Galaxy S8. A Geekbench listing has revealed the existence of the Galaxy S8 Mini or “Lite” sporting the new quad-core Snapdragon 840 processor on board.

We haven't seen too many Snapdragon 840 powered smartphones in the market, but this could be one of the first devices to change that. The benchmarking database doesn’t offer any further details on the hardware, although the handset is said to be running Android 7.1.2 by default. The revelation was made by German blog, winfuture.de

The handset will be reportedly known as the SM-G9600 when it breaks cover in the markets. It must be noted that smartphones usually appear on benchmarking databases on a regular basis. But not every phone that appears on its databases is assured of a launch. Keeping this in mind, it’s safe to assume that this is one of those handsets that the company is merely testing in its labs.

Samsung is expected to bring the Galaxy Note 7 to the markets by the second half of August, so it’s possible that the company will wait until September or October to unveil the Galaxy S8 Mini in the markets. As we stand right now, all theories are possible, so one can’t say with certainty if the company will actually go ahead with the release of this underpowered Galaxy S8.
