Freddy Adu Gets Owned By His Potential New Boss

Freddy Adu’s long and winding tour through the obscure leagues of Europe has now taken him to Poland, where newcomers to the Ekstraklasa, Sandecja Nowy Sącz, are potentially about to sign him following a medical.
Though he’s played for a dozen teams, barely scored, and doesn’t even have a current club, Adu would be the most internationally-newsworthy signing of the Polish league’s offseason. For that reason, and not for any true on-field benefits, he could be of use to a just-promoted team.

Sandecja’s manager, Radosław Mroczkowski, knows this, and he is not happy. In an interview with a Polish website, Mroczkowski claimed he was completely blindsided about the identity of his new player, because management knew he wouldn’t be okay with the clear publicity stunt. From ESPN’s translation:
“It’s a joke,” Mroczkowski told Polish website Sportowefakty.pl. “I read in the media about his trial. I asked the sporting director [Arkadiusz Alexander] why he did not tell me anything [about Adu]. After all, he sent me a text message that there ‘will be a player on trial’ and that they all knew. Marketing knew, the staff at the club knew... Only the coach did not know who the trialist was.”
“What is the point of having such a player?” Mroczkowski went on to say.

Even better, Mroczkowski reportedly also referred to Adu as “Frank,” and compared the former prodigy to a worn-out home appliance:
“In my opinion, the club is so ridiculous. Instead of building a team in a sensible way, we are looking for old vacuum cleaners.”

I’m not even convinced Adu will be impressive enough to get signed by a top-tier Polish club, but I really hope he does, just so we can keep hearing these hardcore Radosław Mroczkowski diss tracks.
