Yvonne Orji: The obsession with her virginity

The obsession on Yvonne Orji's virginity is played out

The talk about Yvonne Orji's virginity is enough.

Yvonne Orji, the 33-year old actress is a Nigerian-American doing well in Hollywood.

She plays the role of Molly, a major character in the HBO produced hit TV series "Insecure" by Issa Rae.

In the TV series, Orji plays a character different from who she is. She is a single lawyer who has been through her fair share of men.

In real life, Yvonne Orji is a virgin. Yes, a virgin in the classical sense of the world. She has never been with a man sexually. You might find this hard to believe seeing that Orji is never afraid to hit the bed in "Insecure".

She has mentioned that her celibacy has to do with her strong faith in God and has vowed that she would not lose her virginity until her wedding night.

It is pretty rare for someone in sex-crazed Hollywood to open up about celibacy and virginity. Britney Spears and the Jonas Brothers were the last celebs to talk about such issues.

As expected, Yvonne Orji's celibacy and virginity have been the main thing about her. Her acting chops and talent seem to fall under the radar a bit. She does a wonderful job of portraying Molly who seems incapable of holding a man down. Watching Yvonne Orji on the show, you would not know that she is a virgin.

America seems to have strange relationships with celebrities who have a strong moral code or a strong faith in God. Tim Tebow, the former American football player and now baseball player never shied away about his faith in God.

His public declaration of Christ got him more than a few strange looks in the sports industry. Steph Curry's wife, Ayesha Curry, was mocked and vilified by some because of her conservative dress sense.

The celebrity world isn't the place for the morally upright or Jesus addicts but here we have Yvonne Orji, a new and fresh face in young Black Hollywood.

Her acting and professional life should be the main attraction and not her sex life. For a country that has clear Christian foundations, it is strange to see that Americans cannot properly deal with celebrities with strong faiths.
