During his campaign, Donald Trump promised to get rid of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program. Now, according to a Sunday report from Politico, he's finally decided to fulfill that awful promise.
DACA, enacted by President Barack Obama in 2012, protects illegal immigrants who were brought to the country as minors. Thanks to the policy, over three quarters of a million "Dreamers" have been able to legally apply for driver's licenses, work permits, etc.

But now Drumpf apparently wants to take that away and send these people "home" -- many to countries they only lived in as infants and have no memory of.
Trump is reportedly going to announce the plan officially on Tuesday, along with a 6-month ultimatum to Congress to pass a law replacing it. But the GOP-run legislature doesn't give us much hope.
Obviously politicians and celebs alike were disgusted by the move. See some of the strongest Twitter reactions (below)!
Taking legal protections away from 800,000 young people raised in this country is absolutely counter to what we stand for as a nation.

Young people affected by #DACA are American in every way except immigration status. @POTUS ending program is not who we should be as nation.

After teasing #Dreamers for months with talk of his "great heart," @POTUS slams door on them. Some "heart"...

When historians write of @realDonaldTrump's tenure, one word will be used over and over:
Cruelty.

In contrast, @POTUS tonight gave in to his own dark fear of diversity & punished them for simply trusting the United States. (3/3)
