Emmy Awards 2017: Sterling K. Brown wins Lead Drama Actor for "This Is Us"

Sterling K. Brown wins the Emmy Award for Best Actor in a Drama Series, thanks the best White family ever.

Sterling K. Brown won the Emmy Award for Best Actor in a Drama Series on Sunday, September 17, 2017.

He won the award for his performance as Randall Pearson on NBC’s "This is Us."

Brown beat his co-star Milo Ventimiglia, Westworld’s Anthony Hopkins, Better Call Saul’s Bob Odenkirk, The Americans’ Matthew Rhys, Ray Donovan’s Liev Schreiber and House of Cards' Kevin Spacey.

 

This is Brown's second consecutive Emmy win. In 2016, he won an Emmy for Best Supporting Actor in a Movie/Limited Series for his role as Chris Darden on "The People vs. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story."

Accepting his award, he said, "before anything like this happened for your boy, I was a fan. First, last and always a fan.So, my fellow nominees, I'm a fan of all of you."

He also thanked his fellow cast members, "you are the best white TV family a brother can ever have," he said.

 

Sterling K. Brown’s win for Outstanding Lead Actor In A Drama is the first time the award has been won by a black man in 19 years.

"This is Us" is a 2016 breakout comedy series that follows an ensemble, as their paths cross and their life stories intertwine, from sharing the same birthday, to so much more than anyone would expect.
