Ever fascinating as a result of its magical nature, the warm and cold springs of Ikogosi flow to a point where they meet, with each spring retaining its thermal identity.

The warm spring has a temperature of up to 70 degrees C at the source and 37 degrees C after meeting the cold spring.

As a matter of fact, the meeting point of the warm and cold springs never fails to mesmerize the roving minds of tourists.

 

And as one visitor puts it, "connecting with nature cannot be more rewarding."

Believe it or not, there is something exceptional about the spring. For words have it that if you believe in God and yourself, you can come to the spring with your burden to request for help.

And beneath these side attractions lies the beautiful magic of the resort-- the warm and cold springs galloping from separate spring points in the quartzite rocks and rolling down the naturally-terraced foot slopes to form a confluence beneath a concrete causeway.

Like every other place, Ikogosi warm spring has its own story of origin; not one though.

Of the many stories surrounding it, the local mythological story claims that the spring came about when two wives of a great Hunter, one being temperamental and the other being quiet, after a rebuke transformed into the hot and cold temperature waters after their husband rebuked them for quarreling. 

However, what is assumed to be a more logical explanation has been proffered.

Geologists claim that the source of the warm spring is a deep fracture in the basement and that its source of heat is due to the normal geothermal gradient of the subsurface and not deep-seated mantle plume beneath the area.

Be that as it may, it matters less to worry oneself as to which is right and wrong. The most important thing here is that life is beautiful.

And to ensure that the beauty of Ikogosi warm spring is experienced by every lover of life, the state government is doing a commendable job.

 

Hence, like a double-edged sword, the spring shall not only be the source of enriching water to Ikogosi town, it shall also be an irresistible call to both local and international tourists.

When is the right time to visit Ikogosi warm spring?

A particular time or season cannot be picked to be the best time to visit the spring. Because the magic of the spring calls out to visitors all year round.
