MI: Rapper completes Archbishop Tutu Leadership Programme [Video]

The Choc City CEO added to his list of achievements by completing the programme, one that never comes easy.

Rapper, MI, showed that he is all about self-development following his completion of the Tutu Leadership Fellowship Programme.

The platform which seeks to groom the next generation of leaders in the continent of Africa is a rare opportunity for most due to the tough entry challenges.

 

MI, who was a recent guest on Pulse Nigeria's "Loose Talk Podcast" alongside Loose Kaynon hinted during a discussion with Editor-in-Chief, Osagie Alonge and Entertainment and Gist Editor, Ayomide O. Tayo, that he was embarking on an imminent trip in anticipation of his graduation from the program.

An Instagram video which focused on the excited MC as he went up the stage to receive the honour at an event held at the SAID Business School at the University of Oxford, England, bore huge signs of accomplishment.

His passion for success saw him quickly elevated from being just another new rapper in the game to legend status. This was down to his unique sick man flows, witty punchlines and humour, all embedded in his rap.

 

The wordsmith currently combines a music career with an executive position wat Chocolate City in the role of Chief Executive Officer. He has been holding the fort in this post since the year 2015.

Despite his remarkable success, the rapper and Choc City came under criticism due to the departures of Brymo (2013), Jesse Jagz (2012) and Ice Prince (2016). It was assumed that the label and its management had started losing steam.

MI's failure to drop hot tunes since his 2014 "The Chairman" album suddenly became a crunchy bone for critics who threw hard on him. An Open Letter to him published by Pulse News was the catalyst that brought about a two-hour long discussion with the reporters.

 

His grievance was based on the concern that comments made about him in the article were based on nuances as opposed to facts.

The heated discussion between the parties is now regarded as a monumental moment in the history of Nigerian hip-hop. It marked the beginning of an era when artistes can now begin to openly challenge the stories reported about them in the media.
