Daddy Hezekiah: Leave politics and face the pulpit, Cleric tells religious leaders

Professor Daddy Hezekiah

Daddy Hezekiah wants religious to shun politics.

Founder of the Living Christ Mission, Professor Daddy Hezekiah says religious leaders should focus on the primary duty of preaching the gospel rather than politicking.

The cleric also urged religious leaders to pray for political leaders while advising them on the best way to lead the country.

Addressing journalists in Abuja on activities to mark his golden jubilee on Monday, October 2, 2017, chairman of the planning committee, Prof. Obiekwe Nwanolue said Vice President Yemi Osinbajo and other past and world leaders would attend the event.

Nwanolue called on world leaders to fund programmes that would impact positively on the lives of people instead of nuclear weapons.

“The Bible says that by their fruits we shall know them. They are deceitful, the so-called men of God who are using the pulpit to score cheap political goals. Their main goal is to pray for the country. “What they are doing now is condemnable. If a leader is not doing well, call him to order, invite him, not chide him publicly.

“Believers must also go into the uniform jobs like the police and the military so that they can simply sanitize the ills that have bedeviled those professions by eliminating the rot that has eaten deep into the fabric of those institutions,” said Nwanolue.

Other prominent leaders expected at the event include former president Olusegun Obasanjo, Goodluck Jonathan, General Yakubu Gowon, leaders from Zambian and Central African Republic.

The golden jubilee and thanksgiving slated for Sunday, October 15, 2017, has the theme 'The Role of Religious Leaders in a Developing Economy.'
