Katherine Ross Ridenhour: Married US high school teacher arrested for having sex with teenager

The 23-year-old teacher was accused of romping with a 17-year-old student of Cox Mill High School in North Carolina.

A 23-year-old high school teacher in the US,  Katherine Ross Ridenhour has been arrested over claims that she had sex with a student in the school premises.

Ridenhour was accused of romping with a 17-year-old student of Cox Mill High School in North Carolina.

According to the Sun, Ridenhour was charged with two counts of indecent liberties with a student after cops learned of the alleged consensual relationship.

The 23-year-old married teacher reportedly works as Home Economics teacher in the school. She is also said to be the school's junior varsity cheerleading coach.

Following her arrest, the police said Ridenhour and the student had several inappropriate contacts over the last month.

Police also said the 17-year-old student is old enough to consent but the teacher was charged because he is a student and the teacher is in a position of authority.

Ridenhour who reportedly married husband Tyler in 2015 faces a 12-month imprisonment on each charge if convicted.

Sexual affairs between female teachers and teenagers in United State is common. In May 2014, a 24-year-old teacher, Megan Mahoney in New York was charged to court for having sex with a 16 year old student.

Huffington Post reported that Mahoney romped with the teen on numerous occasions, at least two times per week during before she was caught and arrested.
