You can only be a baby believer for so long.
There is a difference between being told something and actually experiencing that same thing for yourself.
The difference is that one leaves a deeper mark. It can be problematic when someone tells you something because you can forget it. When that happens, you have to go back for them to tell you over and over again.
On the other hand, you are less likely to forget something when you experience it for yourself.
This logic applies to the church and Christianity as a whole. We have Christians who need to be told every time about God and what He is about in order for their spiritual lives to be sustained.
Then, we have the older, mature ones who have experienced God for themselves. They have had encounters that shook them and helped them to never lose faith.
This is exactly why every Christian needs to move from just hearing to experience. Why people need to grow from just being told who God is to know without a doubt that God is real because they have studied His Word and have had encounters with Him.
We need people to be hungry for God, so hungry that they stop being okay with just being spoonfed and seek Him with all their hearts.
At some point, people need to grow up and once this happens, they are guaranteed to become better, growing Christians.
A church filled with mature Christians is more likely to change the society compared to one with baby ones.
2 Peter 3:18 tells us to “grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.”
As you can see, we are required, commanded even to grow spiritually, in faith, because we can only be baby believers for so long.
It's time to grow up and become an adult Christian.
