Apparently, comic characters have religious beliefs too. We explore these today.
Here are five popular characters you didn’t realise were Muslims.
Green Lantern — DC Comics:
Green Lantern, also known as Simon Baz is the first Muslim member of the Green Lantern Corps. His character is influenced by the co-creator, Geoff John’s Lebanese background.
Ms Marvel — Marvel Comics:
Ms Marvel aka Kamala Khan was released in 2014, according to Stepfeed. She is Marvel’s first Muslim American hero to star in her own comic. Her costume was made from a burkini bought by her mother.
Dust — Marvel Comics:
Dust a.k.a Sooraya Qadir belongs in Marvel’s X-Men series. She was first seen in 2002. Her mutant power is to turn into a sand-like substance. She accidentally stumbled on her power when someone tried to take off her niqab.
Josiah X — Marvel comics:
Josiah X, full name Josiah Al-Hajj Saddiq, is the Muslim counterpart of the well known Captain America, according to Mvslim.com. He was created with a supersoldier serum altered DNA gotten from Isaiah Bradley.
Kismet:
He is regarded as the first real Muslim superhero. His faith was openly reflected in his language, for example, he used phrases like, “By the beard of the Prophet” and “By the star and crescent of Islam!”
He used these when fighting villains.
