We look at scriptures that show us how our Heavenly Father wants us to overcome these sexual desires.
Who has never battled with lust or other sexual desires at some point in their lives?
The truth is we all have faced this particular battle at one point or another. Some people are fortunate to have overcome it, others are not always as successful.
Today, we search the scriptures to discover how our Heavenly Father wants us to overcome these temptations.
Here are top 10 Bible verses that show us how to fight lust, porn and other sexual desires.
2 Timothy 2:22 warns,
“So flee youthful passions and pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace, along with those who call on the Lord from a pure heart.” In other words, run away like Joseph did from Potiphar's wife. Run away from these desires and run TO God, not other things.
First Corinthians 6:18 offers a similar warning,
“Flee from sexual immorality. Every other sin a person commits is outside the body, but the sexually immoral person sins against his own body.” Don't entertain it, just flee from it.
1 Thessalonians 4:3–4 tells us wants God wants for us,
“For this is the will of God, your sanctification: that you abstain from sexual immorality; that each one of you knows how to control his own body in holiness and honour.”
Proverbs 5:18–19 reminds us that sexual desires are not bad as long as it is with your spouse.
“Let your fountain be blessed, and rejoice in the wife of your youth, a lovely deer, a graceful doe. Let her breasts fill you at all times with delight; be intoxicated always in her love.”
For singles, Lamentations 3:25–27 tells us to hang in there for our spouse and not give into our desires,
“The Lord is good to those who wait for him, to the soul who seeks him. It is good that one should wait quietly for the salvation of the Lord. It is good for a man that he bears the yoke in his youth.”
James 1:14–15 reminds us that it is one thing to be tempted but a whole other thing to give in,
“But each person is tempted when he is lured and enticed by his own desire. Then desire when it has conceived gives birth to sin, and sin, when it is fully grown, brings forth death.”

Sometimes we need to be reminded of the consequences, which is where 1 Corinthians 6:9–10 comes in,
“Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived, neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality, nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God.”
2 Corinthians 5:17 offers an important, but often forgotten message,
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.” We have been renewed in Christ, who now lives in us meaning it is time for us to own it and act like it. If Christ is really in us, then there is no room for sin.
Matthew 5:8 says,
“Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.” Who does not want to see God? Let this be the biggest motivation for fighting lust and overcoming sexual immorality. Let our desire to see God be greater than our sexual desires.
Romans 13:14 adds,
“Let the Lord Jesus Christ be as near to you as the clothes you wear. Then you won’t try to satisfy your selfish desires.”
