It is a good time for Nigerian students abroad again as a Nigerian Army Officer, Lieutenant Colonel Sikiru Adepoju Mohammed emerges as the best PhD Engineering student at the University of Leeds in the United Kingdom.
The Officer also emerged as the overall second best student.
Adepoju who acquired both his Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering and Master’s degree from Nigeria Defence Academy reportedly said he has committed his prize cash to providing teaching aids for the Community Senior High School, Akodo in Ibeju Lekki area of Lagos state.

His decision is said to have been informed by his interest in seeing high school students going for higher learning in engineering-related disciplines.
According to the Nation, the Nigerian Army Officer hails from Ibeju/Lekki Local Government Area of Lagos State conducted his research in the field of additive manufacturing, corrosion and robotics.
Adepoju, however, thanked the Nigerian Army for the support and opportunity given to him to embark on the research.
He also extends his appreciation to the Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF) for the transparency with which the selection process was carried out.
Former Head of State, Obasanjo defends his PhD thesis
Meanwhile, the former Military Head of State and former President of Nigeria, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo rounded up his PhD programme at the National Open University of Nigeria in the first week of December 2017.
The former president was spotted in a classroom with a laptop and his thesis sitting before a panel on Thursday, December 2017.
Although the topic of his research work is unknown yet, the research topic of the 80-year-old former head of state is believed to be centred around Christian Theology
