APC Crisis: 6 Major ‘Battles’ For Tinubu To Solve

President Muhammadu Buhari moved by the crisis rocking the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) on Tuesday February 6 appointed the national leader of the party, Bola Tinubu to lead the reconciliation process of members of the party.
The move, President Buhari said is part of the on-going efforts to improve cohesion within the party. Tinubu is designated to lead the consultation, reconciliation and confidence building efforts.
As many Nigerians anticipate the reconciliation results of the Tinubu-led delegation, Channels Television highlights the major battles which the national leaders will have to solve.
These conflicts which cuts across, Kaduna, Kano, Oyo, Ekiti, Kogi and Rivers State are noted to be majorly geared towards the 2019 elections and the battle for supremacy and ego.

The crisis in Kaduna APC can be said to be the most frequent. It has escalated to the emergence of a new faction in the state. The new faction was formed by members loyal to the two suspended APC Senators Suleiman Hunkuyi and Shehu Sani in the state. The crisis got messier on Tuesday February 20 when secretariat was demolished by some soldiers allegedly supervised by governor Nasir El-Rufai. recently, making the political feud stronger. Senator Shehu Sani in his usual way of criticising the state government said he wonders why Governor El-Rufai a democratically elected governor would demolish a building without notice.

The political feud between the Senator representing Kogi West, Dino Melaye, and Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, has developed into dramatic scenario with the political actors dramatising like they are playing out a script. The feud has seen Senator Melaye release a song in a viral-video on social media. The Senator went as far as calling out the state governor.

Rabiu Kwankwaso and Abdullahi Ganduje worked two terms together as governor and deputy but now, their relationship is rocked by crisis. Kwankwaso who is now the Senator representing Kano central was recently prevented from visiting Kano State.  The Police Commissioner in Kano State, Rabi’u Yusuf advised Kwankwaso, not to visit the state for a planned political rally asking him to suspend the visit based on the grounds of maintaining ‘peace and security.’ This ‘advice’ did not go down well with Kwankwanso’s supporters who claimed that the Senator is being witch hunted by Ganduje.

Even in Ekiti State where there is no sitting APC governor, the party is rocked with crisis. Heavy weights including former governor Kayode Fayemi and Special Adviser to President Muhammadu Buhari on Political Matters, Babafemi Ojodu are not on good terms.

In Oyo State, Governor Abiola Ajimobi and Buhari’s Communications Minister Adebayo Shittu are not in good terms while in Rivers State, Senator Magnus Abe and former governor Rotimi Amaechi are at logger heads, deepening the crisis rocking the ruling APC.

While Senator Shehu Sani, has said that the appointment of Mr Bola Tinubu as Chairman of the party’s reconciliation committee is the last attempt to save it from getting into more crisis, Nigerians anticipate a quick resolution even as the 2019 elections fast approaches.
