Here are some scriptures to help you as you pray, fast and do everything associated with this Holy time.
Lent is an extremely big deal for Catholics and Christians.
This period offers the much needed time to return to God as we pray, fast, as we reflect on Christ’s sacrifice and prepare for His resurrection on Easter Sunday.
Its only fair that we turn to the scriptures, God’s Word, during this Holy season.
Here are seven Bible verses to focus on during Lent 2018:
Isaiah 58:6–7
— “Is not this the kind of fasting I have chosen: to lose the chains of injustice and untie the cords of the yoke, to set the oppressed free and break every yoke? Is it not to share your food with the hungry and to provide the poor wanderer with shelter — when you see the naked, to clothe them, and not to turn away from your own flesh and blood?"
Philippians 3:10–11
— “I want to know Christ, yes, to know the power of his resurrection and participate in his sufferings, becoming like him in death, and so, somehow, attaining to the resurrection from the dead."
Luke 13:3
— “I tell you, no! But unless you repent, you too will all perish."

Joel 2:1–2
— “Blow the trumpet in Zion; sound the alarm on my holy hill. Let all who live in the land tremble, for the day of the LORD is coming. It is close at hand a day of darkness and gloom, a day of clouds and blackness. Like dawn spreading across the mountains a large and mighty army comes, such as never was in ancient times nor ever will be in ages to come."
Joel 2:12–14
— “Even now,” declares the Lord, “return to me with all your heart, with fasting and weeping and mourning. Rend your heart and not your garments. Return to the Lord your God, for he is gracious and compassionate."
Matthew 6:16–18
— “when you fast, do not look somber as the hypocrites…but when you fast, put oil on your head and wash your face, so that it will not be obvious to others that you are fasting, but only to your Father, who is unseen; and your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.”
Ezekiel 18:21
— “But if a wicked person turns away from all the sins they have committed and keeps all my decrees and does what is just and right, that person will surely live; they will not die."
