Boko Haram: Suspected terrorists attack University of Maiduguri again

Suspected Boko Haram members attack University of Maiduguri again

The number of casualties cannot be confirmed as at the time of filing this report.

Suspected Boko Haram members have reportedly attacked  the University of Maiduguri (UNIMAID).

According to The Cable, a suicide bomber struck close to one of the hostels in the university around 7:50pm on Monday, February 19, 2018.

The number of casualties cannot be confirmed as at the time of filing this report.

This comes days after the Nigerian Army said the terrorists have been  completely flushed out of Sambisa Forest, the group's stronghold.

The army also said the leader of the group, Abubakar Shekau and of his members have fled to neighbouring Cameroun.

But in a video released shortly after the army's claims, Shekau said vowed to continue the attacks, boasting that his group still operates from Sambisa.

In 2017, the terrorists have attacked UNIMAID at least five times, killing many.

The Chairman, Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) UNIMAID chapter,  Dani Mamman, had said at least 70 lecturers have resigned from the university since 2009 owing to the Boko Haram insurgency.
