Listen up, the Chief Imam of Sifawa Juma’at Mosque in Sokoto State has a great counsel for other religious leaders.
A Chief Imam in Sokoto state has an important advice for Nigerian clerics.
During the monthly preaching of Muslim Sisters Organisation (MSO), Sokoto chapter, Dr. Ibrahim Liman urged preachers to stop receiving gifts from leaders.
According to Daily Post, Ibrahim is the Chief Imam of Sifawa Juma’at Mosque in Sokoto state.
Why the Chief Imam’s advice is so important
DR Liman believes that these gifts prevent preachers from telling the truth, adding that these gifts are often used by the leaders to silence the clerics.
In his words, “Some leaders can be trickish and they can go to whatever length to silence those telling them the truth about their leadership.
“They can lure them with gifts. This is why I am urging preachers to avoid collecting gifts from them.
“This can dent their reputation and that of the organization they represent.”
In order to avoid being tempted by these gifts, the chief Imam advises preachers to ensure that they earn a decent living through lawful businesses.
