Looking at lobbying as a 'gentle act' as I call it has proved it's self to be a very useful and vital tool in the hands of those who know how to wield it. Merriam-webster Dictionary has defined this as an organized group if people who work together to influence government decisions that relate to a particular industry, issue, group of persons etc. With this in mind, let's site an everyday example. I walk into a supermarket, pick up varieties of beverages and toiletries then I walk up to the owner of the supermarket and we begin to bargain and or lobby for a price for the goods that will be favourable to both of us. Holding on to this instance, we see that lobbying happens everyday, Everytime and everywhere. Why is this a gentle act one may ask. Well it is a gentle act because it does not employ the use of force or require raising of voices. It just requires like minded people, writing materials and cups of chilled wine. The main objective of lobbying is to peacefully fight and agitate for; and this Is what we the youths can engage in that will yield tangible and substantial results within a short period of time. We often criticise each step taken by our public office holders whose actions and inactions affect us badly. Instead of negatively criticising and being spiteful In words, why not make use of a tool so subtle as the act of lobbying to drive home your points and desire as an organised group of people. To do this effectively, certain things have to be identified then put in place. Finally it is interesting to Note that lobbying takes different forms. A peaceful protest is a form of lobbying. A whisper in the ear, a round table discussion, a kind gesture are all forms of lobbying. Good thing is that it is neither formal nor informal. Therefore let's use this means, this act, this method to effect lasting change is governance, in politics, in youth Involvement, in the educational sector, and every necessary area, all for the betterment of the country at large.
