Pope Francis: Pontiff shares major tip on avoiding temptation

Pope Francis shares major tip on avoiding temptation

The Catholic leader says living for the glory of God is a great way to live a temptation-free life.

Pope Francis is sharing a major tip on how to avoid temptations.

Vatican News reports this was done during the Sunday Angelus in St. Peter’s Square on the 3rd Sunday of Lent.

Speaking to the crowd, the Roman Catholic leader said that living for the glory of God is the best way to way to avoid life’s temptations.

Referring to the Gospel reading, in which Jesus drives the merchants and the money changers out of the temple of Jerusalem, Pope Francis urged everyone to do the same during Lent.

According to him, this period offers Christians the opportunity to rid themselves of all kinds of idolatry and live for the glory of God, instead.

Pope Francis goes on to explain Jesus’s action in the temple and his reaction when Jews asked Him, “What sign can you show us for doing this?”

Jesus answered with the words: “Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.” The Pontiff says he was referring to his body as the temple.

Today, Pope Francis urges Christians to hold on to remember Jesus’ powerful words: “Do not make my Father’s house a marketplace”.

“They help us,” he said, “to avoid the danger of making our soul, which is the abode of God, a marketplace, and not to live in the constant search for profit but rather in generous and supportive love”.
