Arsenal legend Thierry Henry is coming to Nigeria in December and ahead of his trip, the former striker has been learning some Pidgin English.

Pidgin English (a simplified form of English) is one of the major languages spoken in Nigeria.

Ahead of his visit, Henry is seen in a video learning how to say some certain words in Pidgin English.

He starts off by saying “I dey, I dey,” the Pidgin English way of saying “I’m fine.”

In the video, the former France international is seen trying to pronounce ‘quata’ and ‘wahala’, which are Pidgin English words for ‘trouble’.

“If them score goal again, wahala fit sele," (if  the score they might be trouble) he further said in the video before adding “Nigeria it’s almost time, see you soon to watch the big game.”

The 40-year-old might be familiar with Pidgin English having played with some Nigerian players during his career.

Nigerian Teammates

In his early days as a footballer, Henry was teammates with Victor Ikpeba at Monaco and played half season in 1999 with Sunday Oliseh at Juventus.

At Arsenal, Henry was teammates with Super Eagles legend Kanu Nwankwo.

Henry is coming to Nigeria courtesy of beer brand Guinness for an event on Sunday, December 17.
